About

The history of Cirencester Water Ski Club starts in 1960 at lake 17 when it was part of Bristol Hydroplane Club. In 1972 a separate water skiing club was formed and we finally arrived at lake 37 in 1976. We are a family club that provides water skiing for all abilities from beginner onwards in a non-commercialised setting.
Our on-water facilities are of international standard and we are widely regarded as one of the best tournament sites in the country. The following are some highlights from our history:

· National Seniors Competition – initiated and hosted by the club in 1964, returning to us in 1969, 1970, 1990 and 2004.

· English Native Competition – initiated and hosted by the club in 1965, returning in 1981.

· Hosted the first ever barefoot competition in Great Britain in 1968 and went on to host the British National Barefoot Championships.

· The “Graham Stevens Cup”, our summer slalom series, has become a regular fixture on the British League circuit.

· The Cirencester Grand Prix (initiated 2003), a fixture on the World Elite Calendar, has drawn skiers from across the globe.

· Philippa Roberts achieved a new women’s European slalom record of 2 buoys at 11.25m at the lake in 1990.

The membership boasts a number of past and present world and national champions, record holders and British Team members
